Here is an idea for a sweet oaty treat for your taste buds. The perfect chocolate flapjack recipe, where you can also add your favourite chocolate bars on the top.

210g Plain flour
225g light brown sugar
1tsp bicarbonate of soda
2tbsp golden syrup
5tbsp double cream
Follow this recipe for a great outcome.
First, Pre heat the oven to 180’c / 350’f/ gas mark 4
Next, Grease or line a 13 x 9 inch tin for your flapjack.
Put the oats, plain flour, light brown sugar, and bicarbonate of soda in a bowl and give it a stir to get it mixed.
Melt the butter and golden syrup together in a pan and stir until smooth. (This can also be done in the microwave)
Add the wet mixture to the oats mixture and mix together thoroughly.
Spoon the mixture into your prepared tin. Press down firmly, and make the top level. ( i find this easier wearing a glove and using my hands)
Bake your flapjack base in the oven for 15-20mins or until nice and golden, then remove from the oven and leave to cool in its tin.
Once cool remove from the tin
Melt the chocolate over a sauce pan of boiling water or in the microwave. Once melted add the cream and beat.
Pour the chocolate over the flapjack.
At this point you can add whatever chocolate bar to the top. I used a freddo as it has a nice caramel when you take a bite.
Chill in the fridge for at least 30mins before cutting into squares.
Store in an air tight container for upto a week.
